Well we have 39 Boats signed up, and it looks like the winds will be with us this weekend ( 10 - 20 out of the south).

We may have to dodge a few T storms but in Texas they usually move fast so hopefully we can get some good racing in.

Notes for upcoming Nats!

Hi guys, just wanted to let you know some of the details for Nats this week.

We will have a course set up Wed for the early arrivals. We may be able to do some weighing on Wed. too but No promises, people do actually have to work ;-)

If you look at the overhead map avail on the Blog website, the weigh in area is a party room just north of the dock entrance inside the Islamagorda Fish Restraunt.

Sailing Instructions will be given at the Skipper's Meeting and Welcome Event at the Flying Saucer on Thursday night @ 7:00 PM. There will be a course board / HMS board near the Start line, and any changes to the SI's will be posted daily. There will be no Skippers meeting other than opening night, so come ready to sail at 10:00 A Friday, 9:00 A Saturday, and 9:00 A Sunday.

This is an open weather venue so prepare accordingly. In severe weather there are many places for us to duck into, but be prepared for any winds, etc. It shouldn't be too cold at all. There is a possibility for scattered storms in the forecast, but the good news is those usually pass through pretty quickly if they happen, and a 7 day forecast in Texas is about as reliable as The stock market the last 2 years.

The conditions on the water at this site are generally choppy, and the wind in Texas can give you all kinds of fun... the skippers who can read the wind and sail the waves will probably come out on top. We should be able to set very long courses, so it should be some great competitive sailing. We hope to give you your money's worth

Bass Pro is a world class outfitter and has gear for all occasions, chairs etc.

We are very excited to host this event and we are looking forward to showing y'all some fun Texas Hospitality.

Sundry Items for upcoming Nats!

Sailing Instructions will be set within the next week and sent out to registered Competitors.
The Official Skippers Meeting and Regatta Welcome Event will be at 7:00 PM at the Flying Saucer On Thursday October 21st. All neccessary information and questions will be answered at this event. Any other instructions to competitors will be posted on the Board at the Start Area daily before Racing begins. Be ready to race starting at 10:00 AM Sharp Friday Morning, and 9AM on Saturday and Sunday.
The Committee is set for this event:

Alternate Accomodations for the event can be found at the LaQuinta Inn on Bobtown Rd in Garland ( 1 Mile from the site) The Best Western is booked but we have 15 non smoking doubles blocked off at the LaQuinta Inn until OCT 8th. Let them know you are with The IOM regatta and you will receive the discounted price of 69.00 per night. Call 469-429-3339 for reservations
There is a full service RC store approx 3 miles from our regatta site :

Hobbytown Rockwall http://www.hobbytown.com/Store/Profile/txroc/ (972) 771-1233 . I have contacted the manager and they have extra revers, transmitters, batteries, and other items you may need in a pinch.

Make sure to bring your AMYA card ( or national Sailing authority) and current IOM certificate for your boat. You will not be allowed to sail without them!!! All boats will be weighed , measured on Thursday Oct 21 at Bass Pro Shop. Competitors will be allowed to weigh and measure on Friday Morning from 7:30 to 9:30 BY APPOINTMENT ONLY!

Nationals Test Event / 15 races/ Sept 18 @ 11:00

TRYC will be hosting a test event at the Nationals site on September 18 to coincide with the annual Garland Outdoor Festival at the Bass Pro Shop Site.

Should be a fun / High profile event with a great chance to get a feel for the course @ Bass Pro Shop

Most of the regatta details like food, committee, trophies, and giveaways are already nailed down.

Still running down additional sponsors, but our list looks great so far!

The clock is winding down however on cheap airfare, and available space in our on site hotel.

We expect about 50 boats so don't wait to get your entry in!

Well great news 3 more entries this week put us at 22 boats entered!

3 months until the event to go... we are expecting the biggest turnout for a US IOM Nationals ever based on the skippers already signed up and the skippers we still expect to enter.

The Lakeview Best Western already has many rooms booked at the fantastic rates they gave us!

We have also confirmed that our regatta lunches will be provided by the 3 Restraunts that back up to the event.
